Compound bars (bimetallic strip) bonded - with handle.
The Bimetallic Compound Bar is used to demonstrate unequal expansion in different metals when heated. It allows you to highlight the role of temperature and materials in practical applications such as in thermostats.
Due to differences in the co-efficients of linear expansion of both metals, the laminated strip bends dramatically on heating. Comes with a Teacher's Guide.
Consists of a bimetallic strip of copper and steel fitted in a handle. The strip measures 200x15mm.
