Energy Stick
More gooey, squishy weird matter, but this glows in the dark too! Apply a sudden, strong force and the putty acts like a solid. But exert slow even pressure and the putty displays liquid properties. Huh!? You can roll it, bounce it, mould it, stretch it, snap it, cut it, or even shatter it with a hammer! Glow-in-the-dark putty comes in a coloured plastic egg container. For a strong eerie glow even in daylight shine our ultra-bright UV torch on the putty.

How does it work?
Putty is a weird kind of matter that doesn't fit neatly into the three common states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. It can change shape like a liquid. But punch it fast and it feels hard like a solid. So what is it!? Because it doesn't follow Newton's laws, putty belongs in a broad group called non-Newtonian matter. Other examples of strange non-Newtonian matter are jelly, blood, toothpaste, ink and glue. Putty can be further classified as a sheer-thickening fluid because it gets thicker when pressure is applied. A classic too, in 1949 it was selling faster than any other toy in history!
Teach
- The three common states of matter solid, liquid and gas and their properties.
- Non-newtonian matter and why this weird type of matter doesn't fit into the three common states.
- Inorganic polymers: polymers that have silicon or phosphorous backbones instead of carbon.
- The science of glow lies in the product's phosphors. A phosphor is a substance that radiates visible light after being energized.
FAQ
This putty can be energized by sunlight and any artificial white light source. Once energized watch the phosphors in the putty radiate visible light and enjoy the green glow in the dark. For an instant luminescent glow anytime, anywhere (including in daylight), use our UV torch.
