Galileo Thermometer
A large version of our popular 28cm Galileo Thermometer. Invented by Italian physicist Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), this unique thermometer contains weighted bulbs that either rise or fall according to temperature.
This lovely quality Galileo Thermometer contains 10 weighted balls. As the temperature changes, the paraffin within the thermometer changes density, affecting which baubles float and which sink. By observing which bauble is floating in the middle of the column, or by averaging the ones bracketing the gap, the temperature can be read.
This large 44cm Galileo Thermometer is accurate between 16C and 34C, and makes a stylish statement. The perfect gift for teachers, executives, and science buffs.
Age: 10+ with adult supervision. This is not a toy, it is made from glass.
